Merl Saunders and the Rainforest Band San Francisco-based keyboardist and so-called "psychedelic Pied Piper" Saunders recently came through town as part of the Jazz Is Dead collective featuring Billy Cobham and T Lavitz -- the latest in a career-defining series of collaborations that includes work with the motley crew of Johnny Mathis, Miles Davis, Harry Belafonte, Blues Traveler, B.B.
