Clubland

Dan Robinson must be the scourge of Shepherd Plaza by now. First, as the proprietor of the Voodoo Lounge, he goes public about his spat with fellow tenants and the complex's Trammell Crow management team. He alleged that professional jealousy and latent racism were responsible for killing business at his club -- and most likely pissed off his landlord royally in the process.

Now, Robinson has scrapped the Voodoo Lounge's urban angle altogether in favor of a gay theme: Club Picasso opened four weeks ago, and already there's been trouble. According to Houston police, a nasty incident at the club in the early-morning hours of October 3 left a pair of women sprawled in a Shepherd Plaza parking lot bleeding; they claim they were struck by a pickup truck occupied by a man and woman they'd been tussling with earlier in the evening. (Fortunately, both victims suffered only minor injuries.) Apparently, the fight started in the club's ladies' room and eventually spilled out into the parking lot. Aside from the hit-and-run dynamic, the row involved biting and hair-pulling. Way to placate your neighbors, Dan.
