Finally, Boukman Eksperyans may not have made many ripples off the Caribbean shores, but the most famous band in Haiti has all the force of a tidal wave. Boukman didn't simply modernize the primal vodou rhythms and chants of Haiti and make them suitable fare for the dance hall. The band went several steps further, hyper-electrifying the music, adding layers of searing guitars, soaring vocals, screaming drums and bopping bass. It brings disparate, clashing elements into its realm and forces them together in alchemic reaction. Wild abandon results; only the laws of man keep the revelers in line. If B'Net Houariyat met Boukman Eksperyans, the world would either end or begin anew. (Sunday, April 9, 6:45 p.m.)
