The line of people coming out of the Continental Club had us peering through the windows to catch Billy Joe Shaver and Kinky Friedman on stage. Yelling and applauding from outside the barred windows grew a little old, so we went next door in hopes of a barstool and some breathing room. There are plenty of reasons to love Drink (often referred to as "the Drink Bar," 3718 Main Street, 713-522-9985). My friends love the frantic dance party happening upstairs; I get off on the provocative nude paintings hanging downstairs. And there's always bartender Amy, who will laugh in your face when you order anything other than a straight gin and tonic or rum and Coke. "Look, fella, this here is a trendy bar. People drink cosmos, dirty martinis and lemon drops. What the hell is a tequila sunset?" she berated me. I settled for several more frozen screwdrivers until I saw someone order something out of the ordinary. A shot of Jäger dropped in some Red Bull energy drink? It looked like a seventh-grade science project, bubbling like it was going to explode. So I had one. The Jäger overpowered the taste of the Red Bull, so what I was left with was a trendy drunk's version of Alka-Seltzer.
