Ready to Rock

The Next Door's Gin Gimlet

It was a night like no other at the Next Door Art Gallery (2020 Waugh Drive, 713-520-1712). A band called Felix Madison was playing Zeppelin to the very note -- damn if even the vocals didn't sound like Plant. They're not purely a Zeppelin cover band -- the second set kicked off with the Doors' "Roadhouse Blues" -- but they sure have their favorites. The Next Door is a fairly cool place, with low lighting, comfortable chairs and an awesome foosball table in back, but apparently they don't like it very loud. Felix Madison rocked so hard they were never asked back. (They're gigging over at the Rhythm Room now, in case you're curious.) Who cares if one of the bartenders didn't know how to make a gin gimlet? It's an old man's drink anyhow -- kinda like Zeppelin...

The Next Door's Gin Gimlet:
1 1/2 ounces Tanqueray gin
3/4 ounce Rose's lime juice
Wedge of lime

Into a highball glass filled with ice, pour gin and lime juice. Take the wedge of lime and…garnish the drink with it.
