Glenn Tilbrook and his partner Chris Difford were the finest British pop-rock songwriting team since Lennon-McCartney, and their band Squeeze had the charm, intelligence and musicality that made the Beatles so beloved. If you expect a solo Tilbrook to be only a shadow of the band, think again. His debut CD, The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook, may be a mite tentative, as the title implies, but with his honeyed voice, fervent delivery and some of the finest and smartest Britpop songs ever written, Tilbrook is utterly complete in concert on his own. The guitar may be acoustic, but the guy still rocks. His winning presence echoes loudly with the timeless legacy of a band that was a contender and should have made him a superstar.
