Judging by the success of Will Rogers, Jeff Foxworthy and Rodney Carrington, comedy has always had room for funny men with a little red around the neck. Cowboy comedian John Wesley Austin spins his yarn with 100 percent natural fibers -- that is, the stuff of real life. Austin tells it like it is, whether his subject is marriage, fishin', pickup trucks or no bucks in yer pocket. The comedian, who parodies classic country songs and croons a few tunes of his own, has opened for country music icons Ricky Van Shelton and Tammy Wynette. He also appears on the nationally syndicated morning radio program The Bob & Tom Show. Comics Joe Lowers and Ponchi Herrera share the bill with Austin this week at Spellbinders.
