The WWE floods Houston with Bad Blood

SUN 6/15
Like religion or English beef, professional wrestling requires a leap of faith. Is this sport real? Is this even really a sport? We suggest not thinking about that too much. This weekend, head to Compaq Center, where World Wrestling Entertainment (née Federation) will present Bad Blood, a seven-card event featuring such favorites as Ric Flair and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Chris Jericho and Bill Goldberg will go head-to-head in the main fight. Having faced down in a locker room a few months ago (for real? who knows?), these dudes evoke the rabid interest of fans and geopolitical scholars alike. After all, good offstage fights lead to great in-ring battles. Oh, and for remaining skeptics of wrestling, remember this wisdom: "For those who believe, no explanation is needed; for those who don't, no explanation will do." 7 p.m. Sunday, June 15. Compaq Center, 10 Greenway Plaza. For tickets, call 713-629-3700 or visit www.ticketmaster.com. $25 to $300. -- Eric Norvell

Going Drag
Ever wonder where hot-dog motorcycle riders learn how to haul ass? Maybe it's on a certain Baytown quarter-mile. The Texas Shootout Motorcycle Drag Racing Series features more than 200 racers competing for bragging rights. Maybe the highways will be free of speed demons -- at least for the day. Noon, Saturday, June 14. Houston Raceway Park, 2525 South FM 525, Baytown. For information, call 281-383-2666. $10. -- Troy Schulze

WED 6/18
Cross Winds
The Seabrook Shipyard is closer than you might think. So cue Christopher Cross's "Sailing" and head to the water. If the wind is right, you can take one of Lewis Melton's free sailing lessons for beginners. Then you'll find out if the canvas really can do miracles. Melton teaches the class from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month. 1800 Shipyard Drive. For reservations (required), call 713-644-0606. -- Troy Schulze
