More About

Over ten years and seven albums, Vancouver's Clumsy Lovers have built a reputation for filling dance floors all across Canada and the U.S. northern tier. Comparisons of these festival regulars to jam bands like Railroad Earth are in order, but a Canadian version of the Pogues also makes a convenient handle. The band smoothly shifts between Euro-hoedowns, thoughtful folk fare, jam-band country rock and heady interpretations of songs like "Norwegian Wood," the Pogues' "Streams of Whiskey," J. Geils Band's "Centerfold" and Springsteen's "I'm On Fire" from their 2002 album, Under The Covers. They'll also preview their latest project, After the Flood, scheduled for September release. With a rock rhythm section, off-the-speedometer vocals, and manic fiddling and banjo picking, the band has been described as bluegrass/Celtic folk power pop. They should make an interesting bookend for Jesse Dayton's turbo-country.
