Imagine having a real conversation with your seven-month-old. Does he like planes and trains, or is he fascinated with stuffed animals? What does she think of those mashed peas? What does all that babble really mean? Imagination Signers of Houston is hosting a workshop designed to teach baby talk to parents -- through sign language. In her workshops, Imagination Signers founder Beryt Nisenson teaches the Signing Smart method, which purports to enhance babies' conceptual development and memory. The program combines American Sign Language with progressive strategies for teaching infants. Although designed for babies from birth to 24 months, the method can be used for toddlers up to the ripe old age of 36 months. Nisenson taught her son Josh how to sign at seven months, and he mastered it in three weeks. She found the experience to be "totally addicting." 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 13.
