Boobs, Balls and Beer

Check out what's brewing for Super Sunday

SUN 2/6

Known by many as a perfectly valid excuse to eat 46 wings in one sitting, and by chickens as the worst day of the year, the Super Bowl is upon us. And to ensure that our readers show upfor the big game (unlike a certain Peyton Manning, for instance), we've done a quick roundup of the best places to watch the New England Patriots take on the Philadelphia Eagles. The chicken aspect is covered at Bayou City Wings (four locations, www.bayoucitywings.com), which, in addition to serving up 16 different types of wings, will offer prizes at the door and after each quarter. Brian O'Neill's Pub (5555 Morningside, www.brianoneills.com) is giving away gift certificates and two one-night stays at the South Shore Harbour Resort in League City. And, if the greatest sporting event of the year isn't enough to stimulate you, watch the game at the Men's Club (3303 Sage, www.mensclub.com), where, ahem, "cheerleaders" will entertain throughout the game, alongside a free buffet and huge…TVs. We call it overindulgence, but sometimes 46 wings just ain't enough.

Finally, since Pats and Eagles fans are considered among the most obnoxious in the game, you may want to temper your, uh, temper with beer. The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium (705 Main, www.beerknurd.com) has more than 70 beers on tap, and all Texas pints will be $2.50. A sports-related trivia contest kicks off there at 3 p.m. The game begins at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, February 6. -– Julia Ramey

Tired Out

SAT 2/5

There promises to be plenty of smokin' tires this weekend at the 13th annual Pontiac Pro Stock SuperBowl of drag racing, where many of the top National Hot Rod Association racers will be warming up their vehicles before the pro season opens next week in California. Six-time series champion Warren Johnson, who won last year's Houston race, leads this year's contenders. But we're guessing most eyeballs will be glued to hometown girl Erica Enders -- a Texas A&M student and only the fifth woman ever to compete in Pro Stock races -- when she eases into the cockpit, grabs hold of that big vibrating stick and, um, heads toward the starting line. Gates open at 8 a.m.; finals begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 5. Houston Raceway Park in Baytown. For information, call 281-383-7223 or visit www.HoustonRaceway.com. $18. –- Greg Barr
