Paint the Mother Green!
Buffalo Bayou, noon

Members of the Waterfront Association, the Texas Army and the Slippery Rock Boosters Club will dye the waters of Buffalo Bayou a beautiful emerald-green. This annual ceremony will be held on the grassy area on the south bank of Buffalo Bayou in downtown Houston, at Travis and Commerce, behind the Spaghetti Warehouse at noon.

Members of the Texas Army, in authentic 1836 uniforms, directed by General Carol A. Lewis, will fire their muskets to salute the early Irish settlers in Texas, the Irish who died at the Alamo and the Irish who fought at the Battle of San Jacinto. They will fire green dye from their cannon into the bayou for a token greening. And Slippery Rock Boosters Club members will toss nontoxic green dye from the Travis Street Bridge into the bayou.
