Finalist Times Two

Two Houston Press stories do well in national competitions

Former Houston Pressstaff writer Sarah Fenske has been named a finalist in the 2005 National Association of Black Journalists' national awards competition.

Fenske was a finalist in the Enterprise category for her story "Black and White," which investigated whether African-American deputies are being treated fairly in the Harris County Sheriff's Department.

Fenske also was a finalist in another national competition, this one sponsored by the National Institute for Health Care Management. In "Ground Zero," she talked to people who'd undergone surgery to counter obesity after years of unsuccessful dieting.
