Dinner, Dessert and Whores

If there's anything a real Texas audience loves more than a sinner, it's a juicy scandal — and a juicy steak. The Great Caruso Dinner Theater is serving up all that and more with The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

The infamous musical comedy is about the little-brothel-that-couldn't-anymore, thanks to the efforts of notorious Houston broadcaster Marvin Zindler — er, Melvin P. Thorpe, who stirs up a conservative hornet's nest with his sanctimonious watchdog organization. Montrose favorite Marsha Carlton stars as whorehouse proprietor Miss Mona, with direction by Michael Tapley of Theatre Under the Stars.

Whorehousepromises to stay true to its bawdy, hollerin' cowboy roots, and should be a hoot, given that the Caruso will bring the action right to your table. General manager Spero Criezis explains: "We always try to use the whole space and upset the audience in any way we can."

And just in case the title wasn't a giveaway, remember, leave the kids at home. Hold on to your cheesecake. Call or visit web site for showtimes and reservations.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Jan. 11. Continues through Feb. 25
