If you make it around Memorial Park but the idea of running a marathon scares the sweats off you, fear not. Today you can take to the streets with an estimated 22,000 runners at the Chevron Houston Marathon. Besides the 26.2-mile race, the event features a wheelchair race, the 13.1-mile Aramco Houston Half Marathon and the very egalitarian Houston Press/Smart Financial 5K — a mere 3.1 miles (hey, we're not trying to kill anyone). No matter which race you run, you can brag that you participated in the Houston Marathon — and gorge on all the carbs you want the night before. Race begins at the George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida de las Americas. For registration and information, call 713-957-3453 or visit www.chevronhoustonmarathon.com. $25 to $120 for registrants; free for spectators.
