Forget tequila shots and string bikinis: On their recent trip to Mexico, the members of CORE Performance Company created a dance inspired by contemporary and ancient Mayan culture. This weekend they will perform "Woven Clouds," an excerpt from the dance Corazón Abierto: Heart Open as part of the Jewish Community Center of Houston's Dance Month celebration weekend. The multimedia piece, co-created by a Mexican and an American choreographer, revolves in both plot and movement around the theme of weaving, and features video pieces and an interactive set. CORE will perform as part of "Mix It Up" along with FLY Dance Company, Houston Ballet II and others at 8 p.m. today and Friday, January 27. 5601 South Braeswood. For tickets and a full schedule, call 713-729-3200 or visit www.jcchouston.org. $12 to $20.
