How They Roll

Grrrl power: I just wanted to say the article was great ["Roller Grrrls," by Keith Plocek, January 12]. It helps the public see and understand what we're all about: women power. I also wanted to add that my grandfather is a great guy, and a good father. He just didn't understand what I was going through.

Bout time: I just wanted to say thanks for the wonderful article. With the onset of A&E's docudrama Rollergirls, this article couldn't have come at a better time. Thank you, and we'll see you at the next bout! Hugs-n-punches,

What a Winner

Kenny joy: My congratulations to Hair Balls, and to Charlie Casserly for his Kenny Award ["For Achievement in Ducking Blame," by Richard Connelly, January 12]. Never has a GM been more deserving. Too bad we can't add all the sportswriters and sportscasters who incessantly repeated that he was solely responsible for bringing three Super Bowl championships to Washington.

Brunch is best: That review was masterful ["Forget the Food," by Brian McManus, January 12]. I once accidentally went there for a bellini at the bar one afternoon, and even the bellinis suck, unless it's Sunday morning.

I can't wait to read the letters to the editor angry at you about PTA moms and your non-family-friendly language. Hehe.

Who's the asshole? Brian McManus should not be a cook. He's in the wrong business if he can make a comment like "it's just food…asshole!" If this is how he feels, he probably shouldn't be writing this column either. Nothing against people who feel that way, but there are people who feel like the "asshole" in his story, and those are the people you want preparing your food.

Legit Crit

Where is Robb Walsh? He is the best dining writer I can remember. He not only knows food but captures the restaurant and its clientele and provides the background of the various cuisines. You're lucky to have him.

Whatever, Dude

Respect is due: Reading this…no one takes you seriously [Rotation, by Scott Faingold, January 5]. Sure, Eminem is ready to retire, but he still deserves respect for his music and 8 Mile, which is not even comparable to Elvis movies. His performance was good, and his character was real. The music from 8 Milewas fantastic, too. So reading your article…all I can say is whatever.

Sloan Night

Paper power: Just a quick note to say thank you very much for the Sloan Wainwright show preview ["The Coattails Are Hers," Night & Day, by Steven Devadanam, January 5]. We had real results from the coverage…Sloan polled the audience at her performance at the Mucky Duck, and 75 percent were there because they read about it in the paper. Excellent!

Boo, Brokeback

Bo-ring: After the movie Brokeback Mountain, my two friends and I were asking ourselves why we went to see it ["Homo on the Range," by Bill Gallo, December 15]. We were shaking our heads. Everything we read about the film said exceptional things. But we were disappointed in the movie, not because of the two male lovers but because the story line stank. The movie seemed to go on forever without much point. It was one of those movies where you're wondering if it's ever going to end.
