Nobody's looking forward to the ridiculous a/c bills that await us this summer. In a move that smacks of either brilliant marketing or guilt, Reliant Energy has a way you can score $2,000 in free electricity -- and get really freaking fat, too. At the Reliant Energy Barbecue Ribs PowerEaters Challenge, big eaters can compete in the preliminary and final rounds for two grand in free power, plus free rodeo tickets too. Contestants will have 93 seconds to eat as many ribs as possible, with winners of each of the four preliminary contests receiving $250 in free electricity. Every competitor gets a pair of tickets to one day of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Whoever shoves enough pork 'n' beef in their grill will vie for the title at the PowerEaters Challenge Finals during the World Championship Bar-B-Que, Friday, February 24, at Reliant Stadium. The first round starts today from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Rounds continue through February 21 at Goode Co.'s Armadillo Palace, 5015 Kirby. For registration and a schedule, visit www.reliantpowerzone.com.
