They're Burning Up

If Satan were ever looking for some quality earthly real estate with friendly neighbors, he'd definitely have to consider Sweden. Over the last decade and a half, the benign Scandinavian country has bred some of the grittiest Hades-loving metal acts on the planet. One such act is In Flames, which stops by the Meridian today in support of its latest confession, Come Clarity. Spearheaded by Jesper Strömblad and Anders Fridén, this shredding five-piece, like a lot of Swedish metal bands, has had a revolving door of personnel since its inception in 1990. But In Flames has survived all those changes, put out eight albums and landed big-time gigs like Ozzfest and an opening slot for Metallica. Now the band is finally drawing huge numbers around the world. Suffice it to say, these guys put on a helluva show. Trivium, Devil Driver and Zao open at 6 p.m. For tickets, call 713-629-3700 or visit www.ticketmaster.com. $19 to $23.
