Down with Love

Okay, we all know how ridiculous things get around Valentine's Day, what with all the "He went to Jared!" commercials and price gouging of long-stem roses. Thankfully, a group of Houston artists is getting together to skew the schmaltz with the exhibition "What's Love Got to Do with It?" The one-night show features work by several artists, who, through their edgy paintings, will showcase "the indifference, discontent and contempt â?” as well as the 'warm fuzzies' of love," says organizer Dune Patten. "So the show is not your typical festival of love, but more of an ironic spin on what love is and its effect on people." The hip party, happening on the roof of a Galleria-area luxury high-rise, promises a see-and-be-seen cast of characters.
Fri., Feb. 10, 7-11 p.m.
