Alcohol-lelujah!

If you can't beat your habit, justify it. Today's Drinky Drink is a collection of short films chronicling humanity's long and tumultuous love affair with fine fermented beverages. 1970's A Case for Beer reminds convenience store owners that carding prevents profit loss, while Curious Habits of Man makes the relatively small leap from a cocktail party to a nature program. Alco Beat, an 11-minute gem from 1965, shows PTA members getting drunk and behind the wheel to — uh, make a point.

Drinky Drink is part one of the Sin and Redemption 16mm Mini-Film Series, curated by self-described A/V geek (apologies for the redundancy) Skip Elsheimer and held at Saint Arnold Brewing Company, for the total submersion experience.

But even if you long ago made your case for beer, don't miss part two of the series: Creepy Christian Cinema. Attendees can cast off Friday night's "Drink" corruption with the help of upbeat shorts like Youth Suicide Fantasy: Does Their Music Make Them Do It? and Stalked. Celebrate alcohol at St. Arnold's today at 7:30 p.m., 2522 Fairway Park Drive. Then renounce your rock 'n' roll ways at 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, at Aurora Picture Show, 800 Aurora.
Fri., Feb. 17, 7 p.m.; Sat., Feb. 18, 8 p.m.
