Warning: If you take tango lessons with Andres Amarilla, you may quit your corporate job, move to Buenos Aires and spend the rest of your life dancing. At least that's what happened to Meredith Klein, Amarilla's partner. The one-time development consultant began studying tango in Massachusetts in 1999, and then traveled to Argentina to learn more. That's where she met Amarilla, a tango prodigy who'd been practicing since age 11. Now the two have come stateside to teach the dance which Klein says is more body than brain. "It's a matter of trusting your body because it happens much faster than the mind can operate," she says. The two are offering workshops this weekend (see www.houstonpress.com) and will perform several dances today.
Sat., March 4, 8 p.m.
