Well, a year has passed, but -- lo and behold -- people are still destroying the environment. So it makes perfect sense that the Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble would resurrect "Black Rain," which premiered last year, for this weekend's FotoFest Biennial. Brangwen's work fits well with the event's themes, "The Earth" and "Artists Responding to Violence." The phrase "black rain" refers to the poisonous drops that fell on Hiroshima and to the fallout after the attacks on the twin towers. Four dancers, including Brangwen, will perform water-inspired modern dance while clad in gray and black, while the Rosta Jazz Avengers perform Thomas Helton's original music on stage beside them. Get enviro-inspired tonight.
Fri., March 24, 8 p.m.
