Jazz is said to be one of the most complex and challenging forms of music to play. But Amsterdam's storied, ten-piece Instant Composers Pool Orchestra, a.k.a. the ICP Orchestra, makes it seem easy. Pianist Misha Mengelberg and drummer Han Bennink, who have played with such jazz greats as Eric Dolphy and Sonny Rollins, founded the band more than 40 years ago. The group, which is rounded out by saxes, violin, cello, bass, trumpet and trombone, will showcase their considerable improvisation skills today at DiverseWorks. The laser-precise instrumentation will get in your head, and the mind-blowing spats and up-tempo jives will have you on your feet in no time.
