Poor Georges Bizet. Guy composes the opera Carmen and premieres it in 1875, only to scandalize a (not surprisingly) prim Parisian audience with the show's saucy seductress and her onstage murder. He declares the show "a definite and hopeless flop" and dies three months later. Here's hoping he's watching from some music-surrounded perch on high: His temptress now stars in the world's most-produced French-language opera, which is coming to Houston Grand Opera for the second time in six years. Béatrice Uria-Monzon, who played the title role in HGO's 2000 production, will once again don her flamenco-ready skirts and low-cut gypsy tops and spice her way around Seville, bringing down bullfighters, soldiers and yes, maybe a few prim audience members along the way.
