It's almost May, and Bobbindoctrin and Unhinged Productions know just what you need: some warm holiday fuzzies. Their collaboration on Pulitzer Prize-winner Paula Vogel's The Long Christmas Ride Home integrates the ancient art of Bunraku puppet theater with dramatic human performance. The tale begins on a Christmas Eve, when a husband and wife reach a defining point in their marriage a slap witnessed by their three children after a disastrous holiday with the grandparents. Utilizing flashbacks, flashforwards and internal monologues, the story winds through past, present and future to tell an American coming-of-age story that begins that fateful night.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m. Starts: April 28. Continues through May 14
