Bush, or Bust?

The debate has been going on for months: Should the Houston Texansselect USC's Reggie Bush with their No. 1 pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, or should they go with hometown fave and UT phenom Vince Young? (Don't even get us started on all the trade-down possibilities that armchair GMs have been dissecting.) Today, the wait is over, and whether you're a red-and-steel-blue-blooded Texans fan, or just a fan of the Christmas Day of the NFL season, the sixth annual Houston Texans Draft Party is worth checking out. Current Texans players will sign autographs, and the 2006 Texans Cheerleaders will make their debut. (We're already well acquainted with the hotties; see Been There, Done That, page 26.) There'll also be live music, including a performance by the Bull Pen Pep Band, and stadium tours, interactive games and giveaways.

Then, of course, there's the actual draft. Will the Texans brass make the right call? We can just picture the thousands of fans holding their breath as NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue steps up to the mike in NYC and says, "With the first pick in 2006 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select..."
