Coochie Coos

Much like Eve Ensler's Vagina Monologues, the title of local playwright/director Wayne De Hart's new show gets right to the point. Yes, there's really no mistaking what's happening in Coochie Conversation.

In the comedy, things get spicy when six women gather for an evening of poetry, movies and conversation. When one of the women mentions that she has brought along a video of The Vagina Monologues, the discussion goes from poetry to another P-word. "They're talking about things like their first times, what their mamas told them about sex, going down, and the difference between a vibrator and a dildo," says De Hart. The dialogue is provocative and a little raunchy, but De Hart says it isn't gratuitous. He did an all-male show called Dick Talk last summer (guess what that was about) and says that women playgoers asked for a female version. His next project will marry elements from Dick and Coochie; of course, we're all looking forward to that.

But first, he wants to shake audiences up with his current ribald show and its raunchy subject matter. "I have a theory that women are more risque in their conversation than men are," he says. "This is a peek into how they do talk to each other when guys aren't around." So just how nasty does it get? "Well, there's a line that one of the actresses, Cheray, just hates saying," De Hart says. "You'll have to see for yourself."
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: April 28. Continues through May 13
