Jetsetters Invited

Although they'd never admit it, many people go to air shows in hopes of watching a stunt prop-plane execute perfect barrel rolls and loop-de-loops and then promptly crash into a cornfield in a blaze of glory. (Let's call it the NASCAR effect.) But don't expect that to happen at the Spirit of Flight Airshow, taking place today at the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston. Only the most experienced pilots will be on hand to show off their skills in historic warbirds, modern military jets and, of course, daring aerobatic planes. Visitors will be able to get inside some of the cockpits while they check out the museum's notable collection, including a B-17 Flying Fortress, F6F Hellcat and a Supermarine MkXVI Spitfire. We have no idea what that all means, but it sounds badass.
April 29-30, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
