Cute Little Shorts

"Even if you hate something, you can sit through it for three minutes," says Aurora Picture Show executive director Andrea Grover. And that, basically, is why Aurora's short films festival, "Extremely Shorts," has become an annual event. Now in its ninth year, "Shorts" is a collection of 25 films selected from about 200 submissions by guest curator and documentary filmmaker Kevin Everson. They last up to three minutes and range from westerns to comedies to dramas to documentaries.

In conjunction with the festival, Aurora is celebrating its eighth birthday. This party includes a backyard picnic and karaoke following today's final screening. But beware! "We usually have to kick people out at midnight," says Grover. Salute these "Shorts" at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. today; and 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, June 24.
Sat., June 24, 6 & 8 p.m.; Sun., June 25, 3 & 5 p.m.
