Rolando Sarabia is about to rise to the top of the Houston Ballet world, and today dance aficionados can get their first peek at the man The New York Times called "the Cuban Nijinsky." Sarabia, who is slated to become Houston Ballet's principal dancer next spring, was granted asylum status here after boating to Mexico and then "walking, walking, walking" to the United States, according to an interview with the Times.Today he performs with other dancers from his homeland, the International Stars of the Cuban Ballet, at the Brown Theater. The show benefits the McAllen Ballet, which, like Sarabia, has fought tooth and nail for survival. Proceeds go to the fledging company, which is the only professional ballet troupe in the Rio Grande Valley. Go see everything that makes ballet wonderful -- great talent, hard work and giving back to the artistic community -- at 7:30 p.m.
