Spare the Blade

You may have heard that the Crystal Method's music was played during the blood-bathed rave scene in Blade or that the duo scored the Matrix trilogy. Neither rumor is true, but it's easy to understand why many beat-heavy soundtracks are attributed to the Method. The twosome helped define the "big beat sound" - its "Keep Hope Alive" was the practical anthem to the '90s Los Angeles rave scene - and many producers of action flicks have co-opted "the Crystal Method sound." In addition to its vast influence, the duo is noted for concerts that have the feel of high-energy rock shows. So if you shout, "Hey, let's hear the song from that Wesley Snipes vampire movie!" prepare to be at the mercy of a frenzied crowd.
