There’s a lot to be depressed about during the holiday season: a smaller-than-expected Christmas bonus, in-laws coming to visit, Clay Aiken television specials. But even if you’ve got the yuletide blues, you can still put on your high-heeled sneakers and jump and jive at the annual Houston Blues Society Holiday Ball.This year’s event will honor the late KPFT DJ and “Blues Broad” Kathleen Kern, with local legend Texas Johnny Brown (a Kern favorite) headlining with his Quality Blues Band. This event is also a fund-raiser with a silent auction and raffle benefiting the BITS (Blues in the Schools) program. Note to Brown: If you haven’t written it already, you could have a surefire hit with the “I Can’t Find Me a Sony PS3 Blues.”
