In a world where the latest Next Big Thing is the subject of tomorrow's VH1 reality show, it's nice to have a band like Relient K around. Even after five albums -- check out this month's Five Score and Seven Years Ago-- the Ohio quintet still crafts solid, frantic power-pop-punk that's both great-tasting and less filling. As always, Relient K's lyrics tend to concern personal evolution, new beginnings and general self-improvement, and they still love God -- a lot. And even though the band will probably never be as big as the AllAmerican Rejects, its tunes still stand out because of their huge, radio-ready hooks. If only other groups could be as, er, reliable.
