Special Clay Aiken Edition

Greatest Show on Earth?

Online readers respond to ” [HouStoned blog, by Olivia Flores Alvarez, March 28], about his July concert with the Houston Symphony.

Real treat: A concert with Clay is NOT to be missed. It truly is a great experience for people of all ages who appreciate wonderful music and great entertainment. We can't wait to see this show. The Houston folks are in for a real treat.

A hater: Clay Aiken sucks. Big.

Posted by Chava Grrl | March 28, 2007

Happy camper: This tour is going to be great. I am one happy camper that Clay is going to be within driving distance this year. I don't want to miss this one.

Chava Grrl...why are you here?

Posted by Brenda | March 28, 2007

Good Grrl: Chava Grrl knows what's up. All the rest of you are morons. Clay Aiken is totally gay. Not in the good, homosexual way, but in the lame way. Well, actually, maybe both.

Clay Court

Online readers respond to “Roger Clemens and Clay Aiken Are Totally Overrated” [HouStoned Ballz blog, by John Royal, April 2].

A Claymate states: Well, opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one!

Posted by gayle | April 2, 2007

Missing out: I've seen The Beatles in concert. I was a Beatlemaniac back in the day, and I had the pleasure of seeing Sinatra — he's a family favorite. I also play Dean Martin music all the time. That being said, you might not want to hear this, but Clay Aiken is right up there with them. His voice is amazing, and his personality seals it. I feel sorry for people who don't “get it.” They don't know what they're missing!

Posted by Linda Werner | April 2, 2007

A casual fan: Clay Aiken is the best and the greatest male singer I have ever heard. Clay Aiken is my favorite male singer and male entertainer. I Love Clay Aiken! Clay Aiken Rocks!!! Clay Aiken Rules!!!

Posted by Ann | April 2, 2007

Aleather jacket? You know, those performances of Clay that you saw were the “subdued” Clay. Those were part of a script. Just go see Clay when he is NOT following a script. Check out one of his concerts, for Pete's sake!

Go download some concert performances from previous tours. He even sang an Elvis medley wearing a leather jacket!

Posted by Deb | April 2, 2007

Quite the philosopher: All of these people who keep saying you have to see Clay in concert before you can judge him are misguided and have fallen prey to a logical fallacy. It's not like Royal has never heard Clay beforeÉso he does indeed have the right to judge.

Let me put it this way: Let's say I place a piece of dookie on a plate and serve it to you for breakfast. What would you say if I said you can't say whether or not you like dookie for breakfast until you've had a bite? That would seem like a pretty stupid rule, now wouldn't it?

Posted by The Duke | April 2, 2007

Ignorant: Well, Dukie, now you're the dookie on the plate. Your ignorance is astounding.

Posted by David | April 2, 2007

Magnificent: While you have every right to your opinion, I have every right to inform you how wrong you are. Clay IS a genius. I feel sorry for you. You're missing out on something beautiful: Clay's voice, Clay's stage presence, Clay's goodness.

Thank you for giving me one less person to compete with for front-row tickets to see and hear the magnificence that is Clay.

Posted by PBR | April 2, 2007

Short and sweet: YOU ARE AN IDIOT.

Posted by Julie | April 2, 2007

See the show: Duke, tell my son that! He says he doesn't like a lot of things without one bite. Your analogy makes no sense in this case.

Try this one. You don't like hamburgers as you tried one once, plain, a little raw with a stale bun. You see the ads — double burger, melted cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, sauce — but refuse to try because of your first experience. My son would pass, but I bet most would not.

Just have a bite before you judge. Do yourself a favor and take in the concert this summer. I can honestly say, even after this blurb, if you like the greats, you WILL NOT be disappointed.

Posted by Cathy | April 3, 2007

Enter the microwaved cats: So Cathy, I guess people who have never seen long-dead performers in concert are qualified to say they don't like them. I never had the chance to see Paganini, Billie Holiday or John Lennon in concert. So does that mean, because there is no way I will ever be able to see them perform, I can never substantively say whether or not they're any good? I guess I can't say Billie Holiday is any good because I never saw, nor will I ever see, her perform.

Just try to accept the fact that not everyone will share your tastes. It's not a flaw in their logic or some deficiency in their personal experience. I'm sure some people love the sound of nails on chalkboards or the sound a cat makes when it's microwaved. Why don't you come to my office at noon, Cathy, and we'll stick a tabby in the oven. Hey — you can't say you wouldn't like the screams until you've heard them, live, yourself. Right?

Give it up - most of us love Clay and his voice. I, for one, don't want any Clay-haters at my concert. These negative people are nasty and I don't even know why they bother to visit Clay's sites. Guess they are extremely unhappy people who like to cause trouble. Makes them feel BIG. STAY AWAY from CLAY, please.

  • HappyInPink 04/21/2007 1:52:00 PM

You know I can understand people posting here who have heard Clay Aiken, who have gone to see Clay Aiken and those who really like him. Makes sense to post here about how talented he is, what a good show he puts on, and what a great personality he has, but for the life of me I don't understand people really taking the time out of their day, their life to post nasty, mean, vile, rude comments about him or anyone. What is the purpose? If I didn't like him I wouldn't even be reading this much less using my time to write a comment.

  • Cathy 04/21/2007 12:56:00 PM

Great comment Roni. I cant believe haters are wasting their time trashing Clay when they dont even know him. He hasnt a mean bone in his body and has done nothing to deserve this kind of treatment. These people should direct their anger to try to help those less fortunate. Clay has used his voice since he finished AI to raise awareness for such causes. Go visit the UNICEF and make your donation todayif you care at all. Clay does!!! Another great comment BJ. The haters will never go away and some of them spend 7 days a week spreading the hate. Sometimes I wonder why they would devote their lives to a man that they despise but other times I just feel sorry for them. The people that just dont care for Clay music dont usually post on these blogs so this is not directed at them, just the ones who feel it their mission to visit all these articles and blogs and print nasty comments or create their own blogs devoted to Clay Aiken. You know who you are. Your closing statement sums it up. Spread a Little Love,,,not Hatred! There is too much of that in this world already. Donna, you can buy just one ticket. Just select one instead of two where is says select the quantity. I just did and go section A row 13 seat 1.

Thank you for the super investigative journalism piece, Odd Man Out. We will be in our 10th hearing, this Monday at 2pm Judge Lynn Hull's court room District court 80. There are no lenghts to which this city will go to to shut up homebuyers who have seriously defective houses. They want those houses thrown up on any vacant space to get revenue for the city. They are not concerned if the person's house is not even inhabitable. Our taxes go up put the quality of the houses goes down. The builders know they are building garbage that is why they will not sell them to you... if you do not sign an arbitration clause forbiding you from suing them. Thank you again for some great work. We get so tired of drive-by journalism. Jordan Fogal

  • BJ 04/20/2007 4:46:00 AM

Wow..How intelligent. That's your opinion. Why do you say these awful negative things about a person you have no knowledge of. It is obvious you do not know Clay Aiken the man nor the entertainer... It is obvious you are not a giving, loving person nor a UNICEF Ambassador of Education. Clay is... It is obvious you are not a Member of the President of the United States Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities....Clay is... It is obvious you do not have a Foundation that supports children with Autism and strives to Include them into programs with those who are not autistic...Clay does. After a trip to Afghanistan, Clay had an idea to see if $100.000 could be raised in ten days to support the needs of the children of that war torn country for tents for classrooms and shelter from the outdoors and pumps for water. Clay's fans and supporters have raised over that amount in 7 days and in the next three days are striving for $200,000 which because Clay is the man he is with a heart of gold and his fans respect and love him for who he is and what he does for the world they will make that goal. You obviously do not know Clay Aiken...but his fans and supporters do.. If you don't like Clay Aiken...that is your choice..but you will not turn anyone against Clay with your negative comments...so go pick on someone else...we don't have time to be impressed with you..we are busy Supporting Clay Aiken and his achievements to try to make this a better world in which to live and meanwhile entertain his fans with his beautiful voice...and his wit in concerts...In case you don't know Clay is also very good at stand up comedy....you might be surprised if you went to a concert...you might find it enjoyable. The new concert being booked at this time is "An Evening with Clay Aiken" in 20 cities backed by symphony orchestras...We cannot wait. Spread a Little Love,,,not Hatred! There is too much of that in this world already. Thanks for your time.

I find it amazing that the detractors of Mr. Aiken's merely prove the point that thinking for ones self is a lost art form! Mr. Aiken is an honorable, mad talented man who is making a difference in the lives of children around the world.....as a Unicef Ambassador and the founder of the Bubel-Aiken Foundation he is living his dream to make a difference....most celebrities never even get on the band wagon to make a difference.. He is a multi-platinum recording artist who has the most glorious voice on the planet...He is a born entertainer and how interesting that most of the negative comments here are 933277by people who have never seen him in concert..... I suspect that most of you share one brain cell.....

  • Roni 04/20/2007 12:31:00 AM

Hey while everybody is debating whether Clay's concert is good or not (personally, I think his concerts are excellent but that's just my opinion), why don't we do something more productive. Make a donation for the children of Afghanistan at the following website: https://www.unicefusa.org/site/c.duLRI8O0H/b.2639801/k.14B/Clay_Aikens_Appeal_for_Afghanistan_100000_in_10_Days__US_Fund_for_UNICEF/apps/ka/sd/donor.asp?c=duLRI8O0H&b=2639801&en=heJGLINtEdKALJNqH8KzEPOxGjJVL2MvEeLPLSMuEeLFLUMIH An interesting read about what they can do for the children of Afghanistan with the money you donate:http://fieldnotes.unicefusa.org/

re: Clay Aiken special edition.... Uh..er..as much as I hate using acronyms, WTF!!?! A tiny textbox directing those who are interested in blogs (such as Houstoned), to the Clay Aiken "NONtroversy" would have been sufficient. Please, don't waste paper and ink on that crap. W.
