ITALIAN MARGARITA
Hanging out at Cecil's with a friend, I talk her into accompanying me to Kobain (3720 Raymond St., 713-862-9911) — a yuppie bar named after a junkie — for some laughs. In the mostly empty bar, the overly cheerful bartender, Dawn, takes our order. I tell her to give us whatever he drank, pointing to a painting of Kurt Cobain on the wall. She says, "I don't know what he drank." I don't know either, but it probably had heroin in it. Dawn whips us up a couple of Italian margaritas with amaretto, instead of heroin, in them, and my friend and I pursue a conversation about '90s music and my MySpace stalker. As I look around the bar, I see a mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido, yay! Apparently the Long Island ice tea-like drinks Dawn has made for us are too strong for my companion, so I finish off both our drinks and move on to more important subjects, like why is there a painting of Bono in here?
