The Death Set

The Death Set perform Saturday, June 30, at Boondocks, 1417 Westheimer, #2, 713-522-8500. Ponytails also performs.

The Death Set are Aussie psychopaths, transplanted to Baltimore, who have played with the likes of Mission of Burma and Dan Deacon. If you can imagine a melding of Mission's frenetic guitar assault and Dan Deacon's idiosyncratic electro-pop wackiness, you've got a pretty good idea of what The Death Set are all about. Their bouncy, dance-y, über-aggressive style is guaranteed to be even better as a live spectacle. According to the Baltimore City Paper, which awarded them Best Live Act in '06, Johnny Sierra (who looks strikingly like Napoleon Dynamite) and Beau Velasco are only marginally beaten out by live sex shows for energy and entertainment value. Oh, and did I mention the show is free?
