Head over to the Alamo Drafthouse today for Sixteen Candles. Legendary ‘80s filmmaker John Hughes’s first effort at capturing Generation X, the movie featured a slew of young, future Hollywood stars — known as the Brat Pack — such as Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall and both John and Joan Cusack. It launched Hughes’s career. Ringwald plays the angst-ridden Sam Baker, whose 16th birthday is proving to be a major bummer. Her sister’s wedding has moved her birthday to a non-priority, and Jake Ryan, the cutest boy in school, doesn’t even know she exists — or does he? Find out today at noon and 11:55 p.m.
