The Deep by Jackson Pollock

A discussion of the masterwork

The Menil Collection is hosting a roundtable discussion of the abstract painting The Deep by Jackson Pollock. A panel of art experts including historians, artists and a conservator will discuss the 1953 painting, which is considered one of Pollock’s most enigmatic — and his most important later work. An open discussion follows remarks from the panel. This is a singular opportunity not only to explore The Deep in depth (no pun intended) but to see the painting (after this exhibit, it will return to its home in Paris and is unlikely to be seen in Houston again).
