This Last Comic Standing star recalls the late, great Bill Hicks
Published on August 02, 2007
Â[T]his guy seems to be the reincarnation of Bill Hicks, one YouTube poster commented about a clip of Chris Porter performing on Last Comic Standing. This, of course, is blasphemy, but Porter does have a certain semblance to the late, great Hicks. Both attack American norms and have a grimy, down-home vibe. Porter is fond of tackling those supposedly poignant antidrug commercials, including the infamous one of the girl floating in a swimming pool. ÂThis voice comes on after five seconds [and] goes, ÂJust tell them you were getting stoned; theyÂll understand, Porter says in his routine. ÂThatÂs not an anti-pot scenario; thatÂs an anti-pool scenario. If you would have had a regular backyard, that kid would have been fine. Stop spoiling the bastards.Â
