Yvonne Washington

Singer Yvonne Washington remembers the first time she played at the Houston Museum of Natural Science’s Mixers, Elixers & IMAX event. “I didn’t know what to expect, and so I brought just a two-piece. Man, I think about 600 people showed up,” she laughs. “And they were ready to party! Honey, all I had was a keyboard player, but he and I, we were dancing those people, you hear me?” Of course, Washington knows better now — this outing she’ll have a full band, but she expects the vibe to be the same. “People come in, they’re single and they have hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. They mill around — and they dance! They turn it into a full-fledged party.”
