“Suddenly One Summer”

Trifecta of art

There’s nothing more uncomfortable for a student than to run into a teacher during summer vacation — unless, of course, that teacher happens to be a noted local artist, and makes kick-ass art. Space 125 Gallery’s new exhibit “Suddenly One Summer” features three University of Houston Downtown/O’Kane Gallery-affiliated artists who are taking a break from their educational duties to show their paintings. There’ll be new work from Mark Cervenka, assistant professor of art at UHD and director of UH’s O’Kane Gallery. Guests can also sample the work of Mick Johnson, known for his use of text and graphics, and Beth Secor, who will present a series of oil portraits.
Mondays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Starts: Aug. 20. Continues through Sept. 27, 2007
