1 Dead in Attic: After Katrina

New Orleans writer Chris Rose is stopping off in Houston to discuss his latest book, 1 Dead in Attic: After Katrina, just days after the second anniversary of the deadly hurricane. A crime reporter and columnist for the Times-Picayune, Rose covered politics, pop culture and NOLA nightlife. On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina blew into town and Rose became a self-pronounced war correspondent. Writing during the chaotic and disheartening months that followed the storm, Rose portrayed the desperation, destruction and, finally, dismissal of New Orleans as few others could. 1 Dead in Attic (the title is taken from a phrase Rose saw painted on the side of a house in the city’s 8th Ward) recounts Rose’s life after the storm, after what he calls “The Thing” hit town.
