If there’s such a thing as the golden oldies of Tejano music, then Festival Chicano offers it in solid 24 carat. The incredible lineup starts today with Little Joe and Sunny Ozuna. Rockers since way back when, the two have been true pioneers of the genre since the 1950s, and they still look and sound like the smooth operators they’ve always been. Friday night features the golden voice of Jay Perez along with Tropa F, Chuy Negrete and Hermanos Cortez. Jaime y los Chamacos, Roberto Pulido y los Clasicos, and Los Gavilanes de la Cumbia fill out the weekend on Saturday with upbeat Latin style. Every Tejano influence from rhythm and blues to rock to jazz to good old squeeze box is represented.
