Published on October 25, 2007
Foodies and wine lovers are in for a fabulous treat this week. Tonight marks the beginning of seven  thatÂs right, seven  days of some of the best food and drink Houston has to offer. The Houston Cellar Classic will offer more than 25 events celebrating everything from fine crystal wine glasses to that most revered wino  the sommelier. Today brings two events: MaxÂs Wine Dive in the Heights hosts Dinner to the Max, which features Dan Gatlin of TexasÂs Inwood Estates Vineyards and Pat Sharpe, the food editor at Texas Monthly, who will discuss wine and food while patrons chow down and sample wine from around the world. At The Tasting Room, Maximilian Riedel of Riedel Crystal will host a wine tasting and discuss the way the shape of a glass can affect the taste and aroma of wine. (Picky, picky.) 6:30 p.m. MaxÂs Wine Dive, 4720 Washington Avenue. $165. 7 p.m. The Tasting Room in Uptown Park, 1101-18 Uptown Park Boulevard. $120.
