The Woman in Black

Stephen Mallatratt’s The Woman in Black is famously terrifying. Based on Susan Hill’s novel, the gloomy tale features spooky places like the Eel Marsh House and the Nine Lives Causeway. And, of course, there’s a ghost, whose ghastly purpose is too terrible to reveal. But suffice to say, the story is about a man named Arthur Kipps, who is haunted by the image of a woman dressed in black. When he starts to peel away the secrets of the woman’s story (nobody in the little town where the woman wanders dares say a thing), all sorts of dire consequences glimmer in the dark and dreadful future. The play’s ending is enough to send the willies down anybody’s spine. 8 p.m. 12802 Queensbury Road. Through November 17.
