A more accurate title for Carrie Underwood's latest effort would be Kiddie Coaster, because this is one boring carnival ride. The sophomore release from country music's favorite American Idol provides few thrills as it mechanically runs around in circles, all the while showing just how little Underwood has matured as a vocalist since 2005 debut Some Hearts. The reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year oversings almost everything she touches, including a frighteningly aggressive cover of the Randy Travis classic "I Told You So," which she delivers in an emotionally detached and unnecessarily bombastic vocal. Generic retreads of some of country's common motifs add to the album's lackluster nature, including "Get Out of This Town," a leavin' song that doesn't even pretend to be interesting, and "All American Girls," which shamelessly reinforces stereotypical gender roles. Save your tickets, folks: This Ride isn't worth waiting in line for.
You wouldn't know talent if it kicked you in the ass

Yesterday while looking up CMA news, I saw this review of Carrie's new album. I felt the need to comment today- That's how off based I think you are. In this day in age, With the skimpy clothes, Butt shaking, In your face boobs and lewd lyrics, As a mom.. It's nice to see someone with class and talent not to mention beauty and pose release a CD and have it be so suscessful- As Carnival ride has proven to be. I felt your words to be too harsh, The only thing I took away was that it seemed like you went into it not liking her and it didn't seem like you gave her a chance, The way it read was you had your mind made up. You didn't or rather couln't find one positive thing to say about her. The doors to country music haven't opened wide for her, She's earned her spot. The people of country haven't opened their arms wide open for her... She's fighting like heck to be there. I'm happy to say that I'm a Carrie fan and I will let me daughter who is 6 listen to her, Infact she's got most of the new songs memorized already. It's refreshing to hear some actual good lyrics to songs, Just a dream is a powerful song about something REAL going on. There is no mistaking the emotion in that song. "So small"... Everyday I stress out about something .. We all do. But at the end of the day, I have my family, We're warm inside our house with food. THAT'S what matters. "Crazy dreams"... Is a feel good song that offers up hope to not give up on dreams. I could go on and on. But the fact is.. I would rather listen to Carrie and actual meaningful lyrics then " Gimmie gimmie more.. give me more" repeated over and over.

We all have opinions and mine is that I like the Sophmore Debut album of Ms. Underwood. I am not a pro paid music critic but I feel She not only has shown maturity in the Business but also managed to get her hands in on writing 4 of the songs. Her song choices "I Told You So" and "Just a Dream" are sang with a deep emotion that brought tears when I heard them. I like that she added some fun tunes like "The more boys I meet" and "Last Name". And I enjoy the rockin side of her album with "Flat on the Floor" and "Get out of this Town". I have gone through the album 4 or 5 times and havent felt the need to skip any song. All in all I find I really enjoy listening to this awesome album.

Your review on Carrie Underwoods "carnival ride" was way off comprehension. To say she hasn't matured in these two years just shows that you do not recognize real talent. Her vocals were amazing and in my opinion she did not over ride the songs. She was also co-writer on four songs, which shows she has more talent than just singing. If you compare her first album with this one, you can, if you know music, hear the difference. You are entitled to your own opinion, so I'll leave it at that.
