What becomes a gossip columnist most?

    By Michael Musto

Fifteen years ago, Houston’s downtown was in a sorry state: blighted, gloomy and abandoned. Determined to change things, several warehouse district artists threw open their studio doors and invited the public to see their work. The Houston ArtCrawl was born. Today, the downtown area is hot, and the ArtCrawl is stronger than ever. This year’s event will feature more than 150 artists in 20 buildings. Art lovers can check out work by the resident artists at the Commerce Street Artists Warehouse, take in some poetry at Atelier Jacquinet studio, watch performance pieces at the American Consumer Consortium, and more. 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Downtown Warehouse District (multiple venues). For information and a list of participating artists, call 713-229-9760 or visit www.artcrawl-houston.com. Free.
