No other 20th-century designer took jewelry from mere decoration to legitimate art form more than Fulco di Verdura (actually, that’s Duke Fulco di Verdura, since he was born a Sicilian duke). In “Verdura: The Life and Work of a Master Jeweler,” the newest exhibit at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, visitors will see Verdura’s famed Garbo-watch (a curb-link bracelet watch that was said to be Greta Garbo’s favorite) and wrapped-heart brooch (more than 60 rubies and 200 diamonds form a red heart tied with silver ribbons), along with dozens of other designs and drawings fixing Verdura’s place as both a master jeweler and an artist. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
