Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead

This horror flick recounts the night of the living McNugget

Move over Morgan Spurlock, Eric Schlosser and China, Lloyd Kaufman has the best reason to avoid fast food: chicken zombies. Kaufman, who has influenced notables such as Quentin Tarantino, Peter Jackson and Trey Parker, is the co-creator of Troma Entertainment, a studio dedicated to using B-movie gore and comedy to address political issues. His latest work, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, attacks McDonalds and the like with a story about a fast-food joint built on top of an Indian graveyard. It’s not long before the chickens that were killed to make the McNuggets come back to haunt the employees and the customers. Based on Kaufman’s past work, including his most renowned flick, The Toxic Avenger, Poultry-geist has a cornucopia of gore, cheesy lines, sexy ladies and off-the-cuff musical numbers. With all this in mind, we dare you to order the spicy buffalo wings off the Alamo Drafthouse menu. What’s the matter? Too chicken? 7:30 p.m. Alamo Drafthouse — West Oaks, 1000 West Oaks Mall. For tickets and information, call 281-920-9211 or visit www.alamodrafthouse.com/westoaks. $10.
